Custom Book Coffee Table

Judson loves an opportunity to work on one of a kind pieces, it’s what he has built his company on. When the project carries a significant meaning to the client he really steps up to the plate to produce a piece that is above and beyond.

This Book Table was designed and built for a private client to honor a family member that has passed. Titled “Resistance & Liberation” it is made from solid wood that has been custom stained, soft close hinges (no pinched fingers), perfectly cut book pages, as well as custom engraving on the spine and front cover.

Walnut Media Cabinet

This media cabinet is custom designed for a private client. He wanted a piece to hold specific electronics (record player, amp, vinyl records etc) and Judson found the perfect solution to ease of access with magnetic drop down drawers that pull forward. The textured wave pattern was done by CNC machine programmed by Gerald Lauze.

Little Black Dresser at YVR!

On display at the Vancouver Airport

We recently installed one of our Little Black Dressers at the Vancouver International Airport in one of their display cases that feature art and designs from various West Coast artists. Be sure to keep an eye out for this fashionable piece in the International Departures Terminal. The dress is mounted on a smaller version of our Split Pine Beetle walls. The rear side of the wall also shows our iLog docking station, some pine beetle rocks, and a miniature model of our beloved Cindy cabinet.

Mountain Pine beetle Projects

Our studio has been making extensive use of the wood felled by the mountain pine beetle in BC. Starting with 2″x4″s, we’ve been splitting, cutting, sanding, tumbling and polishing this unique material into a variety of shapes and finishes. It has gone into plinths, walls, tables and cabinets; it has been scuffed and finished and made into polished river rocks. You may have seen some of these products at Trade shows like IDS West in Vancouver or 100% Design in Tokyo. If not, take a look and see what can be done!

This Table is like a living sketch that was created as Jud first started working with the Pine Beetle wood.

Recently Completed Work

We’ve just finished a number of projects including two large installations and several smaller furniture items. Check them out below and let us know what you think!

The last project to head out the door: a completely custom storage unit created for a private residence.

Village Storage Unit

Beautiful and functional, each of these houses forms a closed shelving unit.

Also new to our Portfolio: a Play Area commissioned by the Vancouver International Airport. The Whistler Play Area is only the most recent of a number of Children’s Play Areas we have designed and built over the years for YVR, including the Tugboat, Maze and Lighthouse Areas.
This permanent installation gives kids an inspiring place to play and read while waiting for their flight to depart.

Also just installed were some custom pieces designed for BC Premier Gordon Campbell. These pieces make use of wood felled by the Mountain Pine Beetle and its unique blue-gray streaks.
