Rocketship Childrens Desk

We were to the moon – pun intended – when this private commission came to us. This desk will be used by some young children as a place to do crafts, work on homework, or perhaps plan a trip to Mars! They are made out of plywood and feature LED lights at the top! The planet landscape was custom made and acts as a functional magnet board. This project took about 4 weeks of hard work and attention to detail!

This custom pine beetle cabinet unit was built for a private client.
Using reclaimed pine beetle wood, cherry legs and a granite top this project shows the subtle, classic side of Judsons designs.

Little Black Dresser at YVR!

On display at the Vancouver Airport

We recently installed one of our Little Black Dressers at the Vancouver International Airport in one of their display cases that feature art and designs from various West Coast artists. Be sure to keep an eye out for this fashionable piece in the International Departures Terminal. The dress is mounted on a smaller version of our Split Pine Beetle walls. The rear side of the wall also shows our iLog docking station, some pine beetle rocks, and a miniature model of our beloved Cindy cabinet.

Pine Beetle Heart Wall at EP!C Vancouver!

Our world-travelling Heart Wall, built for 100% Design in Tokyo last year, just recently featured in Ep!c Vancouver Exposition’s  fashion show.

The wall is made from split, sanded and stained pine beetle planks, the distinctive blue stain complementing the stone-like texture of the split wood.

These walls have been a huge hit! We love them because they really show off this really undervalued material that is unique to the Northwest, and our clients love the texture and beauty of the wood, and the versatility of its use as cladding. We’re currently working on a similar wall that will be heading to Regina, this time with the wood pieces running horizontally, where it will form part of  the waiting area in a Dentist’s office.

We’re always looking for new things to do with this cool wood, so check back often to see what we’ve come up with!

What's Next?

Recently Completed Work

We’ve just finished a number of projects including two large installations and several smaller furniture items. Check them out below and let us know what you think!

The last project to head out the door: a completely custom storage unit created for a private residence.

Village Storage Unit

Beautiful and functional, each of these houses forms a closed shelving unit.

Also new to our Portfolio: a Play Area commissioned by the Vancouver International Airport. The Whistler Play Area is only the most recent of a number of Children’s Play Areas we have designed and built over the years for YVR, including the Tugboat, Maze and Lighthouse Areas.
This permanent installation gives kids an inspiring place to play and read while waiting for their flight to depart.

Also just installed were some custom pieces designed for BC Premier Gordon Campbell. These pieces make use of wood felled by the Mountain Pine Beetle and its unique blue-gray streaks.
